REV - Home Defense: Low Light - 2 days

This course is designed to give students safe, practical, and proven techniques and tactics dealing with self and home defense issues in low to no light environments. This training will consist of lecture, range work, reality based force on force scenarios, and live-fire interior structure work. This is not a beginner’s class and a solid foundation in weapons handling and safety is required (see Prerequisites).   Day one will be a long day going into the evening hours. Day two will be shorter but will culminate in live fire evolutions in low light conditions inside The Site’s live fire shoot house.

  • Defensive Handgun Safety, Fundamentals, and Weapon Handling
  • Home Defense Planning and Decision Making
  • Handheld Flashlights (Designs, Usage)
  • Weapon Mounted Lights
  • Low-Light Searching Techniques
  • Low-Light Shooting Techniques
  • Use of Cover
  • Introduction to Compressed and Retention Shooting
  • Low Light Tactics and Structure Clearing
  • Use of Force Decision Making

  • Serviceable Semi-Auto Handgun
  • Three magazines minimum (double-stack) or six magazines (single-stack)
  • Holster
  • Minimum one handheld tactical flashlight
  • Weapon Mounted Light (optional)
  • Spare batteries
  • Wrap around Eye Protection
  • Hearing Protection (Electronic version highly recommended)
  • 600 rounds of ammunition
  • Thin gloves to shoot with (for force on force work with marking cartridges)
  •  Long sleeve shirt (for force on force work with marking cartridges)
  • Appropriate Range Clothing: Long sleeve shirt with closed neck. You will be shooting on both paper and steel targets
